iw3mp.exe has stoopped working on windows 8

If you are playing Call of Duty 4 on Windows 8, and you encountered following error : iw3mp.exe has stopped working , this is how you can fix it. First, go to Control Panel, Sound, and then click on recording tab. When in recording tab, right click and mark "show disabled devices". There you should see "stereo mix" , just enable it and go play Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare.

Random crashes after one hour-that sounds like overheating problem. Do you monitor your temperatures ?

    4. No. I think my problem is because of d3d9.dll

  6. Doesn't work for me either. Enabled stereo mix, reinstalled PB several times, allowed PB and COD in my firewall options, but it still keeps crashing on me. Sometimes it wont happen for 30+ minutes, other times it happens within 5 mins. It's annoying the hell out of me.

    2. Yep, at this point I'm just sticking to servers that don't have punkbuster enabled. It's the only fix I've found so far.

    3. don't know why mate, i don't have any issues with the game, works perfect now.maybe it's some other software running in background causing problems with PB on your computer ?

    3. PB is updating every 5 seconds or so, and if you were able to play the game for 1 hour, your problem could be overheating.try to monitor your temperatures.
i had that issue in the past.
also you need to update your PB manually and add cod4 to the games list in PB

  13. The fix in this post works 100%, but not all systems are the same. Another trick is to plug in your headphones in the headphone jack. After that you can unplug them when the game starts.
